June 2026 DOTM - Daytona International Airport (KDAB) - During the month of June, we honor one of fallen friends, Jerry. In honor of Jerry, this month's DOTM we fly to KDAB and the home of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where Jerry spent time learning how to fly. During his training he has flown to many different airports throughout Florida. So, the chance that the airport you pick out to be your departure most likely would have been a airport that Jerry visited during his training. Just make sure that your flight is at least close to one hour long.
June 2026 HDOTM - John F Kennedy Space Center VAB Helipad (KR7D) - Kennedy Space Center (KSC) does not have a single public helipad; instead, it features a series of dispersed, operational landing pads utilized by NASA's KSC Flight Operations for aerial security, emergency medical services, and specialized transport. These scattered landing zones are heavily maintained for the spaceport's fleet of Airbus H135 helicopters, which replaced older Bell Huey models.
With special permission from the United States DOD and the Space Center, Mirage pilots have been given special permission to enter Kennedy Air Space and land. You will land your helicopter at the helipad just south east of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) and just Northeast of the Space Shuttle jogging trail. When making your charter flight with Mirage, please use ICAO code KR7D. To help find the helipad in MSFS 2024 use ICAO KR7DV. You can see the helipad located in the red box in the attached picture.
