Charter Operations Module

Posted on 07/10/2016 by Todd Cox
We are ready to expand the new Charter Ops module to all Mirage Pilots.   You may have already seen it in the "Pilot Dispatch" menu.  I have included some details below about what to do to get started based on what we have learned during our testing.

You will find Charter Ops under the “Pilot Dispatch” menu on this website.

There are three ways to bid a Charter flight.  Near the top of the Charter Ops page you will find blue links to each option plus "My Charter History" which shows you all your charter flights to date.

      1.  Bid one or more of the auto generated flights called "Available Charters" in this module.  These flights are created randomly by the system.  Once you bid the flight it will no longer be available to other pilots.  To bid click on “Details”.

      2. "Pilot Submitted Charters" is a list of the flights other pilots have submitted and you may bid on also.  To bid click on “Details”, fill in the altitude you want to fly then click the “Fly Now” button.

      3. "Create new Charter Flight" is where you can create your own charter.  Then you can bid on it.   The newest flights will be at the bottom of the page of “Pilot Submitted Charters”.  Please make sure your flight is not already on the list before you create a new one.   Otherwise our list will become unmanageable very quickly.

Be aware it is the PIC responsibility to make sure your chosen aircraft has the range to make it to the destination and it can manage the runway length at each airport.

Once you bid the charter of your choice go to smartCARS and continue on with your flight as you normally do.  You will fly routes you never heard of before when using option #1.

The aircraft list is a subset of our full fleet which we thought were reasonable Charter aircraft for Mirage.   With a little time we can add more if needed.   However, as always, you can substitute another aircraft using our normal substitution rules.

These flights are using a special Airline code - MCF (for Mirage Charter Flights) so this is how your PIREPs will show your flight numbers.  The normal approval process applies to these flights.

We have noticed in our use of the random auto generated flights that due to ICAO changes some of the random airports may have a different ICAO in Skyvector, PFPX, AivlaSoft EFB, GTN750, etc.  So you may have to do some research for them as we often do now.

Let us know of any problems you run into.   It would also be very helpful to hear your positive comments as well.

Enjoy your charter flights -- Blue Skies,

Jerry
